Donald Trump was inaugurated as the 47th President of the United States on Monday, January 20, 2025.
Since then Trump has signed multiple anti-LGBTQ+ executive orders, many of which particularly target the trans community.
Trump has also declared that it is the official policy of the United States that there are only two genders, male and female.
One of the executive orders signed by Trump has banned trans people from serving in the military.
Part of the order reads like this “A man’s assertion that he is a woman, and his requirement that others honor this falsehood, is not consistent with the humility and selflessness required of a service member.”
It is estimated that as many as 15,000 people could be discharged from service as a result of this order.
Trump has also restricted gender-affirming healthcare for trans people under the age of 19.
Federal funds can now no longer be used to “promote gender ideology” and trans prison inmates will no longer be held in female facilities or be able to access gender-affirming care while incarcerated.
On the 29th of January, Trump signed an order directing the acting education secretary to provide a plan to end “indoctrination” in schools within 90 days.
The move follows Trump’s previous claim that the US school system is dominated by “everything transgender” and his pledge to stop so-called “transgender lunacy” on the first day of his new administration.
