As I am sure you probably know by now Donald Trump has been elected to be America's next president.

Trump beat out his rival Kamala Harris in all the American swing states which gave him a distinct advantage in the election.

The Republicans have also won both chambers of Congress which will give the president-elect considerable power when he returns to office.

Trump's communications director Steven Cheung claimed that it was a "Landslide victory" but in reality this election was an incredibly close call.

To show you just how close this election was, according to the US Federal Electoral Commission the popular vote was split 49.9% to Trump and 48.3% to Harris.

Reactions around the world have been mixed with the Russian President Vladimir Putin refusing to congratulate Trump and the EU wary of the tariffs Trump promised to impose.

Trump has also brought Elon Musk into politics as the head of a new Government department called the Department of Government Efficiency.
